On the east coast of Sabah, Jimmy spends his days cleaning rubbish from the sea village. He prioritizes the environment above all else, refusing to take conventional work. This single-minded dedication earns him mockery and ostracism from the villagers.

Jimmy confesses his love for Aspalela and asks for her hand in marriage. Wan Pagek, Aspalela's father, declares that he must own land before he will consent. The village tense over this condition highlights the economic barrier to their romance.

Facing the obstacle of money, Jimmy begins constructing a floating island from discarded rubbish. He builds a small hut on the platform and begins living there, drawing both amusement and scorn from the villagers. The project marks a turning point in how the village perceives him.

One night, Puteri—the mermaid—visits Jimmy and explains she has been watching him and has helped fortify his floating island. He boasts to the village that he has met a mermaid, but Puteri won't surface when called, so his claim makes him appear crazy. His father disowns him as a result.

Puteri invites Jimmy to her underwater cave, which is filled with pirate treasure. She confesses loneliness and says she has developed feelings for him, but Jimmy insists he loves Aspalela and cannot marry without money. Although she offers to share her treasure with him, he politely declines.

Returning to his floating island the next morning, Jimmy finds two treasure boxes left by Puteri. He flaunts his newfound wealth, which wins the favor of the villagers and Aspalela's father. The community suddenly treats him as a legitimate ally in the environmental project.

Kordi grows suspicious of Jimmy's sudden fortune and travels to his floating island. He captures Puteri, cages her, and charges villagers a fee to see the mermaid. The capture escalates the conflict and threatens Jimmy's relationship with Aspalela.

During Puteri's confinement, Jimmy's father sees the mermaid and finally believes his son's story. This sight changes his view of Jimmy and strengthens the family's resolve to stand by him. The revelation reopens lines of support that had been severed.

Jimmy, Orix, Aspalela, and both sets of parents team up to free Puteri from the cage. They succeed and escape from Kordi's island, bringing Puteri to safety. The act demonstrates the power of unity against fear and greed.

Puteri expresses a wish for Jimmy's happiness with Aspalela and bids them farewell. She returns to the sea, swimming away with a merman by her side. Her departure leaves a quiet but hopeful note for the future.

Three years later, Jimmy and Aspalela are married and the village has prospered. Kordi has begun working for them, and the villagers monitor the environment under Jimmy's leadership. The community thrives on their shared commitment to the sea.

Puteri is briefly shown visiting the village again, this time with a merman by her side. The moment hints at a distant, ongoing connection between the human world and the sea. It suggests that friendships can endure beyond impossible distances.
