In the tranquil village of Saint‑Maurice, the populace is so healthy that the doctor sees few patients. When the respected Dr Parpalaid retires, a cunning charlatan named Dr Knock takes over. He persuades everyone they are sick, wins their affection, amasses a fortune and transforms the hamlet into a bustling hospital.
