Jo Sin, a young Buddhist monk, falls in love with Dal‑lye, the daughter of Tae‑su. Though she later marries Mo‑rye Hwa‑rang, she mysteriously abandons the temple and elopes with Jo Sin. When Hwa‑rang discovers the betrayal, he prepares to exact revenge, only for Jo Sin to cry out and awaken, realizing it was all a dream.
