Set against the decline of the Spanish Empire as King Philip II (1559‑1598) nears death, the film follows a defiant figure who challenges both divine and human justice, turning his passions into destiny and his will into law. His fame equals his pride, his conviction seems eternal, and his name becomes legend—Don Juan. It is a free adaptation of Molière’s “Don Juan.”
