On February 27, 2009, student Benjamin Feller committed a shocking crime, having previously detailed his actions in a diary entry. He mailed the entry to his teacher before fatally shooting his parents and surrendering to the police. His teacher, Esther Fontanel, attempts to understand the events after the fact. As the intended recipient of the diary, she finds herself increasingly under suspicion and targeted by law enforcement.
