BBC drama by Howard Brenton follows London petty criminal Eddie Cass, who agrees to transport a package across the city. When the drop‑off address doesn’t answer, he opens it, finds a woman’s severed head in a hatbox, panics and discards it in the River Thames. Home, Eddie is seized by Eldridge and his thugs, who say he’s been framed for the murder.
