Elena, a celebrated concert pianist, carries a traumatic memory from childhood: she was sexually assaulted by a circus clown while Manuel de Falla’s “Ritual Dance of Fire” blared from the tent. The piece still drives her into hysterics whenever it plays, and the same clown now serves as her business manager, compounding her anguish.
