In the affluent suburbs of Washington, an upper‑middle‑class family contends with hidden failures, infidelities and long‑buried secrets. Twenty‑six‑year‑old Charley still lives at home, his resentment toward his father Edward simmering beneath the surface. His younger brother Tom has just quit college and moved back, bringing his volatile girlfriend Marriet, who is eager to become part of the family but proves anything but a stabilizing presence in the increasingly fragile household.
