Scholar Joan Parker takes a job at a Chinese library and discovers an ancient Kamasutra text that awakens her suppressed desires. Ignoring a colleague’s advances, she is drawn into a cult linked to a nearby haunted house and a voyeur watching from a barred window. The erotic trials she endures reveal sexuality and her reincarnation as a tragic lover.
