Through conversations with surviving Yugoslav filmmakers and excerpts from their work, the documentary explores the “Black Wave” — the most artistically vital era of Yugoslav cinema in the 1960s that was abruptly suppressed in the early 1970s by ideological censorship. It examines the total‑itarian mindset that silenced these creators, traces the lasting impact of that repression, and honors the filmmakers whose daring visions later earned international acclaim.
