In 1942, under Nazi occupation in Belgrade, locksmith‑acrobat Dragoljub Aleksić wrote, produced, directed and starred in Nevinost bez zaštite, Serbia’s first sound feature film. The picture blends thrilling action, musical numbers and lengthy displays of Aleksić’s acrobatic stunts. Nazi censors prevented its release. Aleksić famously claimed that the entire Yugoslav and Bulgarian cinema sprang from his own imagination.
