A mysterious gang headed by the enigmatic Anjo robs a jewelry store and arranges a rendezvous at Rio’s Copacabana Palace Hotel, using a cigarette case bearing an angel and the password “Is everything all right?” as their identifier. Meanwhile, director Ricardo is rehearsing a carnival show with his lover Marina, while hotel janitor Serafim receives a letter from an unknown American brother who’s coming for the festivities and, convinced his sibling is an artist, asks Eliana for a spot in the production. When Ricardo discovers Anjo’s lost cigarette case in the hotel lobby, the thieves mistake him for one of their own, sparking a cascade of comic confusion and mistaken identities.
