Set in the summer of 1989, the film follows Enrico, his mother Erika, and their friends who form the makeshift band “Bulk Rubbish,” creating music from discarded objects on East Berlin’s new housing estates. As Erika plans to move West, Enrico stays, bidding her farewell at the border. The documentary‑style portrait captures the band’s rebellious spirit, their skepticism toward German reunification, and Enrico’s resolve to preserve his East‑German cultural identity even as the Wall falls.
