In the winter of 1944, 21‑year‑old Lucía returns to her mountain village and reunites with Manuel, a young iron‑smith who aids the maquis, the anti‑Franco guerrillas. Drawn to his smile and the rebels’ courage, she watches as Manuel is chased by the Civil Guard, flees into the hills, and Lucía confronts the harsh reality of political repression, silence, horror and fear.
