On a hot summer day on an island, messenger Qi finds the dead commander and a graffiti sketchbook in his pocket. The bizarre scenes from the book begin to infiltrate Qi’s daily life. The commander’s death ties to soldier Yi San, who deserts with his gun and vanishes. Meanwhile, the fallen commander’s lover Kang Hua falls under the new leader’s control.
