Pamela, a children’s book publisher, meets medical student Remy through her brother. They fall in love, share an East Village apartment, and quickly become addicted to speed and barbiturates. Remy is expelled from med school and falls into heroin debt. As Pamela seeks sobriety at her brother’s clinic, she must decide whether to abandon a broken Remy.
