In late‑1970s East Berlin, Thomas, a working‑class apprentice, meets Michael, a 16‑year‑old student from a middle‑class family, at a disco. Missing the tram, they walk home, reach Michael’s flat and discuss God and the world late into the night. Their shared yearning to escape phoniness and social constraints forges an odd friendship.
