Based on Ovid’s writings, the film follows young student Claudine who experiences a vivid dream in which she becomes the Roman scholar Cornelius. In the dream Cornelius, drawn to the commander’s beautiful wife, attends Ovid’s legendary lectures on the art of love, only to see an ancient tragedy echo across the centuries.
