A group of drought‑stricken migrants from Brazil’s Northeast board a cramped “pau‑de‑arara” truck bound for São Paulo, hoping for a better life. On the road a woman gives birth. The driver plans to deliver them to forced labor on a powerful colonel’s farm, but Ana confronts the foreman and the driver, forcing the truck toward its intended destination.
