The hand of God molds Adam from Earth’s clay and places him on a tiny, empty planet. Every basic act—standing, barking like a dog, sleeping—needs divine intervention. Realizing the planet’s minuteness and God’s refusal to let him leave, Adam grows lonely and despondent. God briefly creates a companion; Adam dons a bow tie, uses mouthwash and receives a bouquet of flowers, hinting the creator may share his thoughts. Preserved by the Academy Film Archive.
