Julia, the only child of a wealthy Madrid banking family, flees home to cope with her boyfriend’s imprisonment. Educated in Switzerland and England and aspiring to be a writer, she drives to the Asturian village of Corralbos del Sella. There she stays at the manor Llendelabarca, owned by her childhood friend Pilara, who lives with her mother‑in‑law Tía Gala and grandson Juanito. Interactions with the caretakers, a teacher and a priest give Julia, a city woman, her first sense of belonging.
