Ben, an 11-year-old boy, and Tariq, 12, discover they share similar experiences as newcomers to school and football, both having lost their homelands. Ben's village faces demolition for a coal mine, forcing his family to relocate, but he struggles to adjust to his new school and faces bullying. He finds solace returning to his abandoned home until Tariq, a Syrian refugee and skilled football player, arrives. When bureaucratic obstacles prevent Tariq from playing, he disappears, prompting Ben to search for him and learn about Tariq’s desire to reunite with his family. Their rivalry on the field transforms into a friendship built on understanding and shared experiences.
