His son, filmmaker Hala Malas, reconstructs his father’s story, weaving his mother’s memories and his own wish for a dignified legacy. The film follows the everyday lives, dreams, fears and hopes of Quneitra’s residents, tracing the town’s history from the 1936 Arab Revolt against British rule and Zionist immigration through its 1967 occupation and eventual destruction, seeking to lift the shame attached to his father and his hometown.
