Ambrosio, a monk, becomes the object of a diabolical seduction when a young girl disguised in monk’s robes, acting as the Devil’s emissary, tempts him sexually. After a series of crimes threatens his capture by the Inquisition, he betrays his vows, joins the Devil’s side, secures his freedom and ultimately ascends to the papacy.
