Julie, a greasy‑spoon waitress, is assaulted by her drunken short‑order cook boss and manages to flee. She later meets regular patron Brad Collins; the two travel to Las Vegas and impulsively marry. The next morning Brad abandons her in a rundown motel after forcing her to pose for nude photographs, leaving Julie to face further hardships.
