Inspector Brumpby and young reporter Allan Pinkerton attend the wedding of Sir Hannibal Morris and the beautiful Clarence. After the ceremony, Clarence’s presumed‑dead ex‑husband Manuel Diaz reappears, intent on reclaiming her and the inheritance she would receive if Hannibal dies. Diaz sabotages the château’s underground labyrinth, causing an explosion that seems to kill Hannibal, after which his body disappears. Brumpby, aided by Pinkerton, strives to solve the murders and unravel the hidden traps.
