In 1943 Sicily, after the Allied landings, a chaotic American platoon and an Italian force clash not over territory but over a 2,000‑year‑old Roman bridge that has withstood countless assaults. Both sides aim to destroy it first, pitting a mismatched Italian unit—originally a military band turned into a special commando—against the rambunctious U.S. troops. Ironically, the bridge may outlast them all and stand for another two millennia.
