The Navajo belief that a dark wind invades a man's soul when he does evil frames the story. An Indian police officer becomes entangled in a murder investigation and a drug‑smuggling ring on the reservation, forcing him to navigate both the criminal underworld and the weight of ancient spiritual lore.
