The Boy Who Cried Werewolf

Jordan Sands, Victoria Justice, is a shy, bookish 17-year-old whose life takes a dramatic turn after her mother’s passing leaves her to run the house. Her father, Matt Winston as David, struggles to make ends meet, while her younger brother Hunter, Chase Ellison, floods the days with wild, gory pranks inspired by monsters. The family unexpectedly inherits their late relative Dragomir Ducovic’s castle in Wolfsberg, a remote town in Romania, a place they never knew existed and a place that feels equally magical and menacing.

Upon arrival, they meet the castle’s stern and peculiar housekeeper, Madame Varcolac, played by Brooke Shields, whose very presence seems to summon a distant wolf howling at the edge of the horizon whenever her name is spoken. As the siblings explore Wolfsberg, Hunter learns of the legend of the Wolfsberg Beast, a guardian creature tied to the castle and the town, while Jordan finds herself drawn to Goran, the local butcher, portrayed by Steven Grayhm. The town’s peculiar rhythm—mysterious nights, unfamiliar faces, and a sense of ancient history—pulls the family deeper into a web of secrets.

The deal to sell the castle intensifies when they meet Paulina von Eckberg, a bubbly real estate agent who handles the sale and only appears after dark, played by Brooke D’Orsay. Varcolac, the housekeeper, warns David against selling, but financial pressures push him toward a decision that could sever the family from the mysteries and magic wrapped around Dragomir’s legacy. In Dragomir’s hidden lab, Jordan accidentally steps on a vial of blood; Hunter helps pull the shard from her foot, but the blood—the LB-217 Lycanthrope Blood—has already begun to work, triggering a dramatic shift in Jordan’s senses, appetite, and body.

What follows is a frightening awakening: Jordan becomes a werewolf. Her transformation starts with heightened senses and a playful, dog-like behavior that seems almost affectionate, but it is a dangerous change with real consequences. Hunter and his friends explain that there is no known cure they’ve found, other than killing a werewolf with a silver bullet, a solution that Hunter rejects with stubborn loyalty to his sister. As the moon cycles, Jordan’s wolf self grows stronger, and the family’s precarious future hangs in the balance.

Varcolac reveals long-buried history: Dragomir was the Wolfsberg Beast and had been working on a cure for lycanthropy; vampires, seeking to seize control of the castle, had clashed with him in the past. Paulina, who is revealed to be a Vampire herself, captures the siblings with designs on taking over the manor. The siblings manage a narrow escape, but they are soon recaptured. In a climactic turn, Hunter reveals his own true lineage and shifts into a werewolf, proving he is a genuine descendant, not merely under the curse. Together, the siblings battle the vampires until sunrise, and the daylight destroys their supernatural foes.

In a crucial reversal, Hunter’s blood is used in the antidote that finally subdues Jordan’s lycanthropy and returns her to human form. The Sands family receives the money Dragomir left behind, a sum large enough to keep the castle and their original home, honoring Dragomir’s legacy and his rumored karaoke inventions. Hunter, now the Wolfsberg Beast, steps into his destined role and takes Dragomir’s place as guardian of Wolfsberg. Back at home, Jordan returns with a new confidence at school, and Goran relocates to California as a foreign exchange student, with their budding relationship continuing across the ocean. Paulina, somehow surviving the dawn of the battle, reappears in their neighborhood, continuing her long-running pursuit of the castle.

The movie closes with the ensemble celebrating, singing and dancing to a karaoke rendition of ”…Baby One More Time,” a playful capstone that ties together the town’s eerie charm and the family’s arc from vulnerability to a restored, hopeful future.
