Warner Bros., with General Electric, built a seven‑car gold‑ and silver‑plated train called “The 42nd Street Special” to promote the 1933 film *42nd Street*. Loaded with studio contract stars, it toured over 100 U.S. cities, ending in Washington for Franklin D. Roosevelt’s March inauguration. The short records the Los Angeles Santa Fe Station departure, where performers, studio heads and the mayor spoke from a microphone on the rear platform.
