Eleven‑year‑old Rikke lives in a cramped second‑floor city apartment with her father, who spends most of his time watching soccer on television. Bored, she enters a cereal company contest offering a horse as the grand prize. Against all odds she wins, and the horse, named Mama‑Mia, arrives. Rikke, her father and the children from their rundown neighbourhood must figure out how to care for the animal, leading to humorous and heart‑warming adventures as the community bands together.
