Alexey Meresyev, a fighter pilot during the war, was shot down by the Nazis. His injuries required amputating both legs above the knees. Through remarkable spirit and courage, he mastered walking with prosthetic limbs, learned to dance, and eventually returned to the cockpit to fly again. The film is based on his true story.
