The picture is a 1913 British black‑and‑white silent adaptation of Charles Dickens’s 1843 novel A Christmas Carol. Seymour Hicks plays the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge, bringing the classic tale to the early screen. The film was later issued in the United States in 1926 under the title Old Scrooge.
