Raised in poverty, brothers Franz and Erich Sass become expert safe‑crackers, with Erich spending their loot lavishly. Their crimes attract Detective Fabich, pulling them deeper into the criminal underworld. Crime boss Adolf forces them to work for him, blackmailing them and having their father beaten to death. When Adolf plots to eliminate them after a coup, the brothers turn on him, escape his trap and evade the police, who close in as they attempt another bank robbery.
