In 1968 Osijek, seventeen‑year‑old Tomo is the town’s star hope for the Yugoslav Junior Rowing Cup, which Tito is slated to open. Yet Tomo is preoccupied with two women—a charismatic prostitute named Betika and the gentle Jasna—while secretly struggling with undiagnosed impotence. Pressured by local officials to compete, his situation worsens when his father is arrested as a political suspect, forcing Tomo into a hospital where the elite urge him to fulfill the town’s ambitions.
