Set in early‑1930s Berlin, the film follows the perpetual schemers Harry and Ede, whose endless stream of get‑rich‑quick ideas—ranging from stealing gold from a dentist’s office, to selling pure‑bred dogs at inflated prices, to passing off cheap earrings as prized antiques—always collapse in comically disastrous fashion. Their attempts are thwarted by bad luck, bureaucracy and their own blunders, turning every caper into a hilarious failure.
