Heinrich Lohse, a strict and highly efficient purchasing manager, once ordered 40 tons of mustard and enough typewriter paper for four decades just to secure a discount, even insisting on stockpiling absurdly large grocery orders. When his boss forces him into early retirement, he is thrust into idle days and begins to micromanage his household, much to the exasperation of his patient wife Renate and their teenage son Dieter.
