Nacho — the shy, bespectacled teen who had been dragged into the La Font gang—finds himself fleeing a botched bank robbery with Zarco and Chino. The police give chase, and shots ring out; Zarco is captured, Chino is killed, and Nacho is left wounded, clutching his bleeding hand as he staggers home.
Back at his parents’ house his father, seeing the danger his son is in, quickly fabricates a cover story. He whisks Nacho away to a friend’s countryside villa, claiming they have been together for a week. When the police locate the “vacation spot” and find a sleeping boy, the father explains the hand injury as a minor fishing accident. The officer on the scene pushes for a confession, but the father produces a photograph that reveals a personal connection: the man in the picture is the officer’s own father. Realising the favor owed, the officer backs down, allowing Nacho to walk free.
The film then jumps forward almost three decades. Nacho, now a respectable lawyer, receives a desperate letter from Tere. She asks him to use his legal skills to secure the release of Zarco, who has been serving a long sentence. When Nacho visits the prison, he learns that Tere has already died, leaving Zarco—her half‑brother—without the chance to say goodbye.
In the end, the story underscores how chance, loyalty, and a single act of protection can reshape a life that once seemed doomed. Nacho escapes the criminal path his new “friends” set him on, while Zarco and Tere remain trapped by the choices they made. The final scene leaves us with a quiet, bittersweet reminder that not all outlaws are abandoned by fate, but many are left to bear its unforgiving weight.
