Leo (Vittorio De Sica) is a struggling young man unable to earn a steady living. By chance the director of a large company commissions him to escort Titi (María Mercader), the accountant’s daughter, for one evening. To impress her, Leo pretends to be the son of a wealthy tycoon and takes her to an elegant restaurant, weaving a night of deception and aspiration.
