Handa Sen is the “okami” (proprietress) of a long‑standing eatery in a modest Tokyo district. Though she often appears ditzy and loves to drink, she possesses an unexpected command of diverse arts—culinary techniques, pottery, calligraphy and more. The drama weaves together the everyday trials and celebrations of the restaurant’s staff and patrons, while offering a vivid showcase of Japanese cuisine, traditions and the quiet charm of ordinary city life.
