An orphan girl, courted by an older suitor who controls her adoptive mother, falls for Fairfax, a stranger she meets at a party. Bootleggers try to retrieve loot hidden in Fairfax’s mansion while shadowy figures watch from the windows. After one thug is killed, Fairfax is the prime suspect, pulling the couple into a web of mystery.
