André runs an illegal street casino and Jogo de Bicho, as rival gang leader Fiore seeks to take it over. Prostitute Margot reunites with ex‑convict Sarja, a waiter at the casino, and brings him to her apartment. André, drawn to Sarja, makes him his protégé. Sarja and Margot plan a heist on St. George’s Day, while Fiore plots a robbery.
