Born into a free and nomadic life within the vast Paraguayan Chaco forest, Mateo and others experienced a violent upheaval when religious missionaries forced them from their ancestral lands. To preserve fragments of this disappearing culture, he travels through communities, recording the experiences of those who lost their traditional way of life, their beliefs, and their home.
