A Coast Guard helicopter circles overhead, yet the raging weather prevents the crew from spotting them despite Nick’s flashlight flashing into the pilot’s eyes.

As the night drags on, hypothermia claims the two NFL stars first. Their lean bodies lack the insulating body fat needed to fend off the cold, and they succumb quickly, their deaths mirrored by the later loss of Will, who gives up hope and drifts beneath the surface.
