On Saturday the Nordkurve revels in drinking, fighting, sex and soccer, all driven by craving, intrigue, deceit and blackmail. With 40,000 fans awaiting the crucial afternoon match, everyone prepares their own scheme: substitute Niebitsch eyes his debut, agent Roland F. Beyer pursues a huge deal, the club teeters on bankruptcy, President Vischering plans a TV appearance, and Gottschalk spirals into drunkenness. The film argues the game lasts all day, not just ninety minutes.
