Jean Duprey and his wife Danielle, noted journalists fascinated by unsolved mysteries, are summoned by Jean’s aristocratic friend Guillaume de Saint‑Lambert, who is mysteriously ill. In Guillaume’s remote castle they discover his wife is the reincarnation of an 18th‑century witch who uses black magic to sicken the Saint‑Lambert family and preserve her beauty. When Duprey shatters the marble casket holding the witch’s ashes, her true form is revealed before she finally dies.
