Edouard, patriarch of a family, meets his wife Jeanne’s breaking point after she gives birth and tires of his infidelities. Their marriage collapses, sending daughters Dina, longing for more with her boyfriend Paul, and Sidone, a terrified musician, into turmoil. Seven years later, a gravely ill Edouard forces the family to confront its hopes and fears.
