Despite her struggles with acceptance and her dreams of attending Princeton, she finally earns a spot at her dream college after writing a heartfelt supplemental essay about her father. This moment of victory signifies her growth, as she learns to accept her past and her trauma rather than let it define her. Meanwhile, her relationship with Ben reaches its emotional climax when Ben surprises her by returning from New York and declaring his love at a wedding, culminating in them sleeping together and deciding to be a couple.
