In the centuries after Christ’s appearance, the Nephite nation grows wicked and rejects Him. Mormon, determined to preserve the record, leads his people in the final Battle of Cumorah, where he and his army fall. Before the fight he gives the record to his son Moroni, who stays faithful, buries the golden plates, and later is killed by Lamanites.
