Modern Inventions

Donald visits the Museum of Modern Marvels and drops a coin on a string in the admission box, then yanks it back out. He enters the hall to see futuristic electronic appliances and inventions.

The Robot Butler greets guests and has a flaw that makes it take hats from visitors. It snatches Donalds hat despite his protests, setting up a running joke about hat theft.

After his hat is taken, Donald performs a magic trick to produce a top hat. The act shows that he can compensate for the loss with a clever illusion.

Donald encounters a robot hitchhiker exhibit that thumbs a ride by imitating a passing ambulance. The hitchhiker activates and pokes him in the eyes as punishment for tricking it.

The Robot Butler appears again and takes Donalds top hat, continuing the pattern of hat theft within the museum.

Donald performs a magic trick to produce a bicorne hat, adding another distinctive headpiece to his collection during the tour.

He discovers a bundle wrapping machine and ignores a not to touch sign. He pulls a lever and the machine wraps him in cellophane with a red ribbon.

After freeing himself, the Robot Butler reappears and takes his bicorne hat, continuing the assault on his headwear.

Donald does a magic trick to produce a kepi and taunts the Robot Butler, which then chases him through the exhibits in retaliation.

He hides inside a robotic baby carriage and swaps his kepi for a bonnet. The carriage coddles him, offers a milk bottle that squirts milk in his face, and then thrashes him with a puppet toy, squirting more milk, putting a diaper on him, and tickling him.

When he finally escapes, the Robot Butler appears again and takes his bonnet.

He does a magic trick to produce a bowler hat, then discovers a robotic barber chair and activates it with his coin. The chair tosses him upside down and trims his tail while polishing his head with shoe polish.

After his head is polished, he puts the bowler hat on his head. The Robot Butler reappears and takes his bowler hat.

Fed up with the hat thefts, he erupts in an explosive tantrum that ends the sequence and amplifies the museum chaos.
